A hot summer and hot A/C sales in the forecast

The cool summer of 2009 will soon be no more than a dim memory. The National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Service says the July-September period will see higher than normal temperatures along the East Coast, through the Southeast, and across the entire West from the Rockies to the Pacific.

That has HVAC manufacturers and installers smiling, rubbing their hands, and looking forward to a big leap out of recession.

Indeed, a rise in factory orders across the US economy in February was led by HVAC and the electricity sector that feeds it:  “Machinery orders jumped 5.1 percent, driven by higher demand for heating and air conditioning equipment and turbines and other power generation gear.”
